Graduate or Junior Geo-Environmental Scientist/Consultant (Grad_geo_Feb 2021)
This is a Full Time permanent post for a Graduate / Junior Geo-environmental Scientist (<3 years experience), subject to a 3 month probation period working predominantly in the contaminated land, environmental drilling and waste management sectors of our business. Typically, you will spend 3 days on site a week, working in a range of site environments throughout Northern Ireland. On the other two days you would intially need to be based in our office in North Belfast, as you undertake training/get to know our systems.
Essential Requirments:
- Educated as a minimum to BSc Level in earth science / geology / contaminated Land/ environmental engineering or a relevant subject with a high content of geology / hydrogeology (please provide detail on this in your CV).
- Be capable of handling, collating and input of data into a range of databases, with the manipulation in Excel being a daily task therefore competent Microsoft computer skills are essential
- Be able to query/question unusual environmental data (eg groundwater levels, gas concentrations and chemical lab results)
- Basic understanding of conceptual site models needed, and interested in the interaction of groundwater and atmospheric pressure on ground gas.
- Valid Full UK/NI driving licence (or equivalent driving Licence) is essential for this role.
- Initially reporting activities will include Phase I Desk Studies (PRA), progressing through to Generic Quantitative Risk Assessments (GQRA), Hydrogeological Risk Assessments etc.

Internal on-the-job training in will be provided to the successful applicant. Salary £18 to 22k / annum gross depending on qualifications and experience. Monday to Friday typically 8.30 to 5pm with an hour for lunch, however there is some flexibility on these hours.
