Would you like to join our Energy and Sustainability team? 

We are currently recruiting for a Sustainability Data Officer, where you will be responsible for delivering the Corporate Carbon KPI, which has a target to reduce our corporate carbon emissions by 67% by 2025 and support the team with project initiatives in line with achieving Net Zero Corporate Carbon by 2030. 

You will provide data analysis to support initiatives being delivered by the Energy and Sustainability Team, and validating data accuracy across Energy, Water, Waste, Fleet and Business Travel primarily.

You can be flexibly based in one of our UK office’s and we have a flexible hybrid working approach, meaning the role will be a combination of office/home working.

What you’ll be leading on

  • Be responsible for data analysis of internal energy data across National Highways network and built estate, ensuring accuracy for submission for the carbon accounting team. 
  • Analyse and provide information to the Energy Strategy Manager for production of monthly environmental reports for buildings to be provided to building occupiers to promote behaviour change in how to reduce their environmental impact. 
  • Work with the Estates Sustainability Manager to collate and analyse all data requirements for the Greening Government Commitments for submission to the Carbon Accounting Team. 
  • Support the delivery of a programme to reduce emissions from Business Travel through data collection and analysis to identify hotspots, monitor results of interventions, and support the overall programme.
  • Collate and provide data with Energy and Sustainability team to support with internal and external requests such as from ORR, FOI’s etc. 

To be successful you’ll need

  • Experience of handling data sets with the ability to perform statistical analysis and interpret it in easily digestible formats. 
  • Computer literate in PC based systems including Microsoft Office Suite and specifically Microsoft Excel. 
  • Experience of managing relationships with stakeholders and evidence of skills to influence relationships for positive outcomes. 
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant area of work, desirably within environmental management, scientific or mathematical field, or engineering. 
  • Knowledge of the UK energy, carbon and water supply industries and their reporting requirements.
